Kogi BBQ 已經紅了大半年了
Korean BBQ + Mexican Taco 的 fusion引起Angelenos 的廣大興趣
除此之外, 他利用網站及時下最流行的Micro Blog -Twitter來update 兩輛taco trucks當天路線並與他的支持者們保持良好互動

街頭巷尾社交聚會人人都在談論Kogi
除了美味之外他獨特的經營模式及傳奇性的一炮而紅也是大家津津樂道的話題
既是這樣我怎麼能錯過呢?
其實一直想找機會去湊熱鬧排排看他的Taco Truck
(就像當年的 Mister Donut 還是大排長龍店的時候一樣, 就算明知道自己的爛胃根本容不下半個donut)
但他週五週六的schedule到離我比較近的地方就已經是三更半夜
每次要不是晚餐吃太飽再也吃不下, 就是餓太久沒辦法再容忍任何等待

當知道他們 take over 位在Culver City 的alibi room 的廚房
在這個小吧serve Kogi BBQ 我超開心的!
雖然價錢比從taco truck 買貴了一些
但以方便程度跟等待時可以邊喝酒聊天的舒適度對我來來講是完全值得的!

alibi room: 雖然食物也是得等個半小時才送上來, 但在這hang out 邊來杯必魯邊等待, 比在外面寒風中排隊好的多

另外alibi room 也serve taco truck 沒有的 Korean spiced fries: 還不錯好吃但並沒有太特別的fries, 要說是韓式也只是他們提供韓國人最愛的沾料 mayo+Sriracha

至於他們的taco, 很多Asians 覺得是hype, 沒甚麼特別的
吃了之後我是覺得跟我想像中的有距離
很好吃跟一般的taco也很不一樣
但是好像並沒那麼有韓國料理的調味
也許這才是能廣泛吸引各種族各文化族群的原因吧
(有點異國風味, 但又沒有強烈到像臭豆腐那般令人無法接受的地步)

Tender Greens一直是Culver City downtown 午餐時間最忙碌的店
Sony Studios的員工跟附近其他上班族中午一到就蜂擁而入
(我記得他以前只賣到下午, 不過現在看他網站營業時間已經延長到晚上9點了)
一直在local(Culver City)很受歡迎的Tender Greens最近在West Hollywood開了家店
因此得到更多hipsters & bloggers的喜愛跟媒體的關注

Tender Greens顧名思義是以蔬菜.沙拉聞名
有各種當場新鮮現拌的沙拉
也有熱食加小份沙拉的組合(可選烤steak, chicken, albacore, 跟vegetables)

Herb Brushed Albacore Tuna (on a Sandwich) with baby spinach salad: 這天我點的albacore 三明治還不錯, 稍微小烤過的albacore甜嫩好吃.  但我還是覺得他的沙拉真的才是最棒的, 蔬菜鮮嫩香脆, dressing 跟搭配的ingredients 都恰到好處的好吃!

Tender Greens 並不是serve甚麼特別獨一無二的料理
但是食材很新鮮烹調的也很好吃
絕對是上班日午餐的最佳選擇
(雖然現在有營業到晚上但晚餐吃這還是怪怪的)
但我覺得如果不是住在附近的話
這沒特別到值得大老遠開車來吃就是了

Rush Street 是愈來愈時尚的Culver City downtown 一家Chicago Style bar/restaurant
早在Rush Street 今年七月開幕時看到Caroline的介紹就想check out 這個離家車程只有三分鐘的新時尚據點
沒想到一拖就到了11月才終於有機會去看看

星期四的晚上的Rush Street,
有上班族裝束的人們, 也有穿著時尚的男女
地利之便, 附近的 Sony Studios 也帶來了娛樂圈的good looking crowd
很有大都會的感覺
不像Hollywood crowd 的譁眾取寵
也不似Santa Monica 的 crowd 參雜著南加州隨性風
那晚的crowd加上整家店的氛圍倒是讓我覺得彷彿來到了慾望城市大蘋果

最近的景氣低迷讓很多餐廳都顯得冷冷清清
但這個週間晚上八點半左右
室外的patio跟室內都幾乎客滿
應該算是餐廳裡生意算好的
(我自己覺得跟附近多是娛樂業人口而電影業在不景氣中相對抗壓有關)

Menu 上有不少 small bites 的選擇也有漢堡牛排海鮮等主餐
我們雖是要吃晚餐但對並不是很餓的兩個女生的晚餐來說
這裡的小食類真是最好的選擇

我們從”Up for Grabs -starters / share plates” 中選了tataki nachos
又點了個 “Mini Giants” menu 上的 dry aged beef sliders
配上啤酒跟甜白酒, perfect!

這個很特別而且很好吃, 下次來一定要再點

漢堡牛肉還不錯, 但基本上就是三個小漢堡, 沒有太特別

吃飽後感覺應該來點dessert (wine)
酒單上並沒有desset wine這個section
問了服務生後她推薦了這個來自義大利的稍甜白酒, 很香甜我喜歡

我好喜歡 Rush Street 唷!
Yay! 繼Father’s Office之後成為我的巷口小酒館

現在如果我跟你說 “就約巷口的小酒館吧!”
那我說的就是Rush Street.
(哈哈我到現在還以為自己生活在日劇裡…>_< )

至於為什麼說是Chicago style?
我沒在芝加哥混過所以也不了解
只知道芝加哥真的有一條街叫 Rush Street
曾經是當地夜生活的中心, 聚集著城裡最棒的酒吧, 俱樂部, 及餐廳
如今雖然昔日榮景不再但仍以有著許多吸引郊區居民, 觀光客, 及年輕partygoers 的單身酒吧而聞名
芝加哥太陽報還稱之為 the “hippest strip” in Chicago.

這家本店在Santa Monica 的 bar 一直都相當受歡迎
明明就一直知道他們新開的Culver City location 離我家超近
卻一直都還沒有機會去

這陣子一直好想念鹽酥雞攤的地瓜薯條
有天在Yelp上剛好又看到Father’s Office
想起她們也有地瓜薯條(在這應該相當少見吧)
又覺得好像有好一陣子沒有喝到好喝到會讓我喝一大口然後心滿意足地 “ㄚ!” 一聲的啤酒了
於是說甚麼也要把不住在附近的朋友們拉來陪我去!

Sweet potato fries (超好吃炸地瓜薯條!!! 不能吃炸物的我都破例吃了一堆…滿足我想吃鹽酥雞攤炸地瓜薯條的慾望)


The Famous Office Burger: 之前第一次去 Santa Monica店時, 朋友就是以”有LA 最好吃的Burger”來介紹 Father’s Office的 (可惜我不是個漢堡人)

Random Cup Mat: Father’s Office 有很多 local breweries 的 啤酒選擇, 最上面那張吧台照片就可以看到有超多啤酒 on tap, 讓人想要下次再來試試別種啤酒, 這也是一種樂趣, 不像去一般酒吧點來點去都一樣, 怕胖的就點 Bud Light, Miller Light, Coors Light, 重口味就點 Guinness, 在這雖然有的時候會點到地雷, 但總是多了點探險的趣味.

這個好喝要拍下來,下次再來點! 記得! “Lindeman’s Pmme Lambic” 是好喝的!

基本上這家Father’s Office完全符合我巷口小酒館的條件
Culver City 這家離家近又不會像Santa Monica 店人擠人
啤酒讚食物也好吃又不會太貴
很適合跟朋友hang out
I’m ready to go back anytime! 

Otom Sushiya (Culver City)

Otom 算是我最常光顧的餐廳了
可愛的pancho san
好吃的uni 跟 seabass
還有店裡溫馨又很日本的氣氛
讓我一直回來

上星期五沒特別計畫要吃甚麼
自然的又去了Otom找pancho san
突然看到

阿! 好難過喔! 這樣以後我要吃甚麼阿~~ 嗚嗚~~
在我們旁邊等的小女生說他從5歲就來這吃了
吃到現在都20 歲了
好吧比起我她應該更有資格難過吧
這真的是一個溫馨的小地方
不讓人覺得那麼商業化
好多人都來這裡過生日

為什麼要關呢?
聽說老闆katsu把這家店賣給一個以前在這做過的壽司師傅
這家店可能會重新開幕甚麼的但請不起pancho這麼貴的師傅
所以pancho跟katsu都不會在了

pancho 跟大家留了email address
答應我們他從日本回來會告訴大家他的去向
希望他真的會寫email 給我們
希望他不要搬太遠

Otom Sushiya is the place I go the most often. Not just because it’s close and not expensive, Puncho Pancho’s jokes and the tasty sushi are also the reasons make me keep going back.

Here is the review I wrote a few months ago posted on Yelp.
I love this place so so so much! Highly recommend everyone tries to get seats by the sushi bar. The sushi chefs are very energetic and funny. Just don’t go when you are in a rush, you’ll enjoy the meal and the entire night. ^_^ By the way, I don’t recommend the $35 all-you-can-eat deal. The dishes don’t come out fast. I think if I have time pressure, I’ll just complain about their slow service and not be able to enjoy the food and some jokes maybe. Plus, the price there is actually not very expensive. From my experience, the bill always comes out about $25~30 per person.

It’s such a shame that I didn’t try it until now. Cafe Laurent is a nice little French Cafe right down the street from where I live.
According to my experience of trying out the most popular brunch places around LA so far, I think they have the best waffle in town! Their salmon omelette is also very good!

墨西哥菜名除了Taco跟Burrito之外都看不懂
為了要學習新知識…我們點了個Burrito跟兩個忘記名字的東西
不過點完其實有點小後悔
因為其他在我們旁邊點的人沒有點除了Taco之外的東西
網站上好像也說這邊最棒的其實是Taco
anyway, 下次再來好了…反正很近…. Washington Pl. 跟 Sepulveda 的路口
下次要吃Taco…

I told myself I should try to play harder this year since I’ve decided to go back to Asia after b-school. However, the workload of school and GABS stuff is much heavier than I expected. Even today, the 1st day of the long weekend, the only thing I can do is catching up whatever should have been done. But I still think my life should be at least a little bit different than it was in 1st year. Okay! Good food doesn’t take too much time. Thus, I decided to try out LA’s best food one by one.

The place we went is very close to where we live. It’s the top 2 in breakfast category. Is it really good? Not sure about if we ordered the best thing there, but the waffle and pancake were good. I think the most important thing is the food there is not as greasy as what other regular diners serve. So the conclusion is…. I like it!
